a newt's escapewalking along a dirt path along a pond, my eye says “blades be my feet, all of me stop” slow-motion, into the air i wrap i edge nearer, a newt’s eyes “water be my boat, all of me watch” slithering down, on a tree as sap smoothly into water, as sleep in beds “he is still, there is no clock” patience, as no snail ever hath towards me a rock, penetrating my disguise “the rabbit flees the snake, i was almost caught”a newt's escape
